Miss Universe 2011 Crown: Diamond Nexus Labs

As part of Miss Universe's environmental efforts, Diamond Nexus Labs was chosen to be the official sponsor for the crowns since 2009. Diamond Nexus Labs specializes in diamond simulants and other synthetic stones, offering them at a fraction of the cost of real mined stones. The current crown "Peace" was chosen by thousands of online voters in Diamond Nexus Labs' Choose the Crown website.

The crown was designed to reflect the ones of modern monarchs, with rubies to symbolize Miss Universe's AIDS awareness campaign.

Miss Universe 2011 Leila Lopes of Angola

For the years 2002-2007, Miss Universe used the famous Mikimoto crown depicting the phoenix rising, signifying status, power, and beauty.

Miss Universe 2008 Dayana Mendoza of Venezuela

I honestly prefer the Mikimoto crown, it has the same grace and elegance of a Miss Universe.
How about you, what do you think?

On a side note, congratulations to Miss Chamcey Supsup for winning 3rd runner-up this year!

Make-your-own Mondays: P.S.-I made this...

Founded by Erica Domesek, P.S.-I made this... is your ultimate DIY guide to everything fashionable and trendy. From Prada-inspired clutches to faux feather skirts, one would instantly be awed at Erica's imagination and the simplicity of how she presents her work. "I see it. I like it. I make it." - indeed she does.

Here are a few of my favorite DIY jewelry pieces.
